The Aria Access Project (AAP) is a free hub of downloadable contemporary aria sheet music written by alumni of ALT’s Composer Librettist Development Program.

The AAP aims to increase awareness of and access to arias by diverse, contemporary American composers and librettists, whose scores remain largely unpublished. This online hub includes arias from works that have recently received their premieres, as well as from operas for which the premieres are forthcoming. At launch, the AAP includes 20 different arias, all available for free download as PDFs for educational and audition purposes. Additional arias will be added to the AAP hub on a regular basis.

Through this project, American Lyric Theater seeks to shine a light on some of the remarkable composers and librettists creating new operas whose scores are not yet published and that haven’t yet had multiple productions — building awareness of and access to these exciting works for music educators and singers alike. Arias are available for professional and student level singers, written in a variety of musical and theatrical styles.

TERMS OF USE FOR
THE ARIA ACCCESS PROJECT

CAUTION: Professional and amateur singers are hereby warned that all operas included as part of the Aria Access Project (AAP) are subject to a licensing fee if performed on stage. The downloading of any Aria as part of the AAP does not constitute a license to perform the opera from which it is from, which license must be obtained from American Lyric Theater prior to any performance. Performance of any opera without a license is a violation of federal law and may subject the singer and/or presenter of such performances to civil penalties. Both amateurs and professionals considering a production are strongly advised to apply to the appropriate agent before starting rehearsals, advertising, or booking a theatre. A licensing fee must be paid whether the title(s) is presented for charity or gain and whether or not admission is charged. Licensing fees are quoted upon application to American Lyric Theater. For all inquiries regarding motion picture, television, online/digital and other media rights, please contact American Lyric Theater. In addition, public performance of this Aria outside the context of the complete opera requires that performers obtain the appropriate licenses from ASCAP/BMI.

AGREEMENT: By downloading any Aria through the Aria Access Project, you agree that you will not share the PDF of the Aria through email, any social media or file hosting websites; and that you will only use the Aria for educational and audition purposes. No part of the Aria may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, scanned, uploaded, or transmitted in any form, by any means, now known or yet to be invented, including mechanical, electronic, digital, photocopying, recording, videotaping, or otherwise, without the prior written permission of American Lyric Theater. Notwithstanding the foregoing, singers may use the Aria for audio and/or video audition submissions, and may post their audition videos on YouTube or similar video sharing services provided the credits included on the title page of the downloaded Aria are included with the posted video. You further agree that you are responsible to obtain the appropriate licenses from ASCAP/BMI in the event you wish to perform this Aria publicly.
