C.S. HANSON
C.S. Hanson is a playwright based in New York City who writes about people desperately holding onto their dreamy illusions. Then she bursts their bubbles and sets her characters on unconventional, achingly truthful journeys. Hanson’s plays have been produced off Broadway and regionally, including in NYC (Cherry Lane, Theater for the New City, Theater Row, NY Int’l. Fringe Fest., The Brick, Metropolitan Playhouse, Estrogenius); Miami (City Theatre); Washington, D.C. (The Source); Pittsburgh (New Works Fest.); Denver (Three Leaches); and Montreal (Gleams Theatre, Montreal Fringe Fest.). Her short play STALK ME, BABY has been produced on college campuses worldwide. Plays have been developed at The Lark, Bechdel Group, Lake George Theater Lab, EST, LaMaMa, Abingdon, Naked Angels, and NJ Rep.
She has received commissions from the Experimentals at LaMaMa, Working Theater, Nomad Theatrical, and America-in-Play. Her work has been published by Smith and Kraus and by Applause Theatre and Cinema Books. She is a proud member of Honor Roll and the Dramatists Guild of America.
Honors include: 2024 O’Neill semi-finalist (Bring Your Authentic Self to Work Day), Tennessee Williams Scholar at Sewanee Writers’ Conference, Writers Boot Camp screenwriting fellowship (Just Say Yes), Estrogenius play festival winner (Combat Dating), and City Theatre of Miami national finalist award (The Art of the Interview?).
